20-21 Season Conclusion

Following the meeting with West Riding FA on Thursday evening and subsequent league management committee meeting last night (Sunday 7th March) the following is how the Craven Aire Wharfe Junior League is to conclude this Season:

Due to the responses from the recent vote to extend the Season and the number of fixtures that still need to be played the management committee have decided to null & void this Season.

This decision didn’t come lightly and we fully appreciate the impact of clubs having issues with pitch availability, given that some local councils are prioritising the summer sports over football on some grounds, the effect of losing players to cricket and also the various Religious elements through April & May.

The management are also mindful that there will be a lot of players and managers out there, chomping at the bit, wanting to get back into playing football. It is with this in mind that the league will leave the fixtures that had already been scheduled and teams can play these as friendlies. The league is going to request an extension of the playing season till the end of June so as these friendlies are not restricted just to the end of May.

In order for the league to re-schedule the fixtures, every team registered with the league needs to inform myself if they ‘would’ or ‘would not’ like to continue playing football fixtures.
I need to receive this response by the 21st March via your club secretary, any team that has not indicated their preference by this date will be deemed as ‘would not’ like to continue.

Fixtures will resume on Sunday 11th April

Teams that would like to continue must:

  • Try and fulfil every fixture scheduled
  • If there is a fixture that you are going to struggle to fulfil then you are to notify the relevant fixture secretary accordingly 10 days before the scheduled fixture date, so as an alternative fixture can be arranged for your opposition. These fixtures will not be re-scheduled.

    Junior Section – cawjl@outlook.com
  • Cancelled fixtures due to weather/pitch conditions won’t be re-scheduled
  • There will be no fines or penalties for teams not fulfilling a fixture or non-completion of FullTime stats
  • Covid Self Assessments are still be collected and ALL fixtures are still to follow the governments guidelines with regards to Covid-19
  • All fixtures still need to have a referee officiating the fixture
  • Should a team arrange their own Friendly Fixture, or re-schedule a cancelled fixture, then please notify the relevant fixtures secretary who will sanction this and set it up on FullTime

Hopefully, the 2021 / 2022 Season won’t be as badly affected by the pandemic; I’m sure there’ll be some manner of disruption and as usual the leagues management will endeavour to try and limit the effect of this as best they can.
